Q&A: I'm looking for a cheap home theater projector that has a lot of bang for it's buck...?

as I do not have one at this point

Of the box. And I’m still tweaking the picture
I eventually talked myself out of 3D for a few reasons. Mainly projectors in this price point are active 3D (require the expensive glasses) and are often missing many of the features found in similarly priced non 3d projectors.

Though this projector may not compete with the picture quality produced by the HD LED TV 1080P, the excellent picture quality at enlarged size will provide you the fullest satisfaction – never think of investing huge amount in LED 1080P TV

I bought this to make Home theater in my basement and it has excellent quality and I would highly recommend this. I also bought OmniMount ECSB Component Shelf for CRT TVs & Video Accessories from Amazon to put this Projector and it works great so if anyone wants to buy this as well together with Projector.

I got it home Friday evening and within 20 to 30 minutes I was watching ‘The Incredibles’ with my new Epson 8350. Keep in mind this was the DVD version, so not the full 1080p output the projector is capable of, but still, it was simply mind blowing. Having missed The Incredibles on its theater run, I was overjoyed at the result. At nearly three times the size of what my 50 inch screen could produce, and being able to sit so close, our eyes were immersed in the fantastic world of Pixar animation magic.

The mounting screw holes are far apart, so check your ceiling mount if you already own one.

I was torn between the purchase of a large screen TV or a home cinema projector. I got interested in the Epson 8350 projector based largely on the reviews seen on Amazon and Consumer Report for a preceeding model.

While all my components are capable of 3D I have not really liked 3D that much in the theater and decided I would not want to play much 3D content at home so I concentrated on brightness and the 1080P resolution and the adjustment features of this projector and zero regrets. If I were to change my mind in the future when the technology has progressed I can revisit that, but for now this is all I could ever want.

I feel like I should have more details about how to install it or configure it, but really it was very, very simple. Basically just hook it up, use the lens shift to tweak it, connect an HDMI cable to it and your working.

This projector is good, I have 2 observations, when using a hdmi cable 1080p, it is impossible to adjust the type of image, just be normal, no zoom, not full, and so on.

Any suggestions? Also, do I need to use a screen or can I just project the images on my white wall?

One personally if its not a 1080p projector I wouldn’t bother. Second yes a good screen is absolutely necessary if your wanting to get a good image. A good screen is not cheap so keep that in mind when deciding to go with a front projection system. With the cost of a decent projector and screen your going to be up there in costs.

The best bang for the buck for me is the Panasonic PT-AE 7000 or the Espon Cinema 510 both around the 3k price range. Most of the sub $ 1000 projectors honestly are junk sorry to say. So unless your looking to buy a projector and screen in the 2k or higher don’t bother.
