I’m buying a laptop for college. I can buy it now but I know stores like Best Buy and Circuit City have back-to-school specials and I’m wondering whether the prices are gonna go up or down. Also, what are some of the benefits of the back-to-school specials?
They should go down, they want to sell all of there products as quickly as they can.
Back to School is the BEST time to buy a new laptop. That is when they are at their cheapest price for the year. I would recommend you buy online for the best prices.

No they will go up for the christmas rush.
Keep a sharp lookout for Black Friday Sales (day after Thanksgiving) and After Christmas Sales.

Prices of laptops are slowly going down, as they expect bulk sales on festival times like christmas all companies reduce prices as gift to consumers.
Dell Alienware M11X is Awesome laptop with amazing performance for it size. It will play the latest games from medium (COD MW2) to high/ultra settings (SC2).
This thing also never overheats. Its pretty big for a netbook but def worth it!
Thanks to nVidia Optimus technology, the battery life on this thing is fantastic (3+ hours playing online,5+ hours regular web surfing,watching videos…). The 8GB of Ram and the option to overclock the processor make this on-the-go gaming laptop a good future proof system.
Overall I’m very pleased with this system.I recommend it to anyone (especially if you can find it for under a grand)looking to do some gaming on the go and want to have the coolest looking laptop around.
Cons: I’ve heard about some hinges issues but Dell is working on it and will replace them even if the laptop is out of warranty. Make sure you open the lid with both hands to put less strains on the hinges.
